The Esther Steenbergen Trio plays classical guitar music with an original emphasis on jazz components and Latin American rhythms. Because of the richly varied backgrounds of the three players in classical, jazz, latin and traditional music, their varied performing styles, including elements of improvisation, rhythmic communication and ensemble performance styles, the trio’s sound and repertoire could be described as: “ Andres Segovia meets Anthony Jackson”.
The trio is at it’s best in concert halls with attentive audiences, at festivals and in concert series which feature programming of classical and jazz concerts.
The trio consists of Eric Calmes, bas, Esther Steenbergen, guitar, and Enrique Firpi, cajon.
